Flying back from LA on Saturday morning had me a little excited, because I was pretty sure I would be able to spot some of the Queens flying in for Pride at the airport. Little did I expect, however, to find out Pandora Boxx and Manila Luzon on my flight! Coming into baggage claim at SLC, I was even more tickled to see Ivy Winters getting picked up by her chauffeur.
I pointed them out in LAX to Weston, who ended up sitting up in the same row with Pandora and Manila in first class, and after he we met back up he gave me the run down, a little confused. “One of them was talking about how they had been in Beijing last week, and were going to be out in NYC later on this week — what do they do?” I was like, “Oh… they’re drag queens. Didn’t I say that?” Weston was still confused “But why are they flying around to all these places?” “To… be drag queens. To do drag shows. To host events.” “That’s a thing? Like, they get flown out to do that?” “Yeah… they’re kind of a big deal.”Straight dudes! What can you do? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
David and I met up with some friends at Pride to catch Ivy and Pandora’s show at the main festival grounds and it was a total blast! Pandora was a babe and had us cracking up — put together the funnest mash-up of songs and vignettes — she opened as Hermione Granger in her Hogwarts robes, and by the end of her first act was stripped to a maroon and gold corset and was grinding down to “Witchy Woman.” Ivy was an absolute bombshell, stomping around the stage giving hair shows while she juggled clubs, knives and fire.
More of this please, Salt Lake!
